Penerapan Pendekatan Konseling Humanistik dalam Meningkatkan Kepercayaan Diri Siswa di SMP Negeri 2 Sidamulih

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing a humanistic counseling approach in increasing student self-confidence at SMP Negeri 2 Sidamulih. The background of this study is based on the fact that many students still experience a lack of confidence in learning activities, such as fear of asking questions, reluctance to speak in front of the class, and a tendency to be passive in group discussions. This condition can impact low learning participation, underdevelopment of self-potential, and obstacles in building social interactions. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. The subjects were students at SMP Negeri 2 Sidamulih who had low self-confidence. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and a self-confidence questionnaire. The research procedure was conducted in several individual counseling sessions using humanistic counseling techniques. The results showed a significant increase in students' self-confidence after participating in humanistic counseling. Students who were initially hesitant and shy to speak began to express their opinions, actively participate in discussions, and demonstrate more positive behavioral changes in social interactions. Thus, it can be concluded that humanistic counseling is effective in increasing the self-confidence of junior high school students
