Socio-Cultural Changes in Society and Their Implications for Early Childhood Education: A Case Study in Kindergarten Settings

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and identify how contemporary sociocultural changes in` society influence the perspective, participation, and practices of early childhood education (ECE). Shifts in family structure, technology adoption, and increased social mobility have created new demands on ECE institutions while altering traditional parenting values. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design in [Name of Location], data was gathered through in-depth interviews with parents and teachers, alongside participant observation. The findings indicate a significant shift from viewing ECE merely as a "childcare facility" to an essential institution for preparing 21st-century competencies. Two primary changes identified are the increased involvement of Fathers in the educational process and the rapid adoption of digital technology as a learning aid, which simultaneously introduces digital literacy challenges. This adaptation is, however, accompanied by resistance from traditional values in some communities. The study concludes that sociocultural changes have fundamentally reshaped the ECE ecosystem, necessitating culturally sensitive policy interventions and teacher training programs focused on integrating local and global values.
