PMR Learning Strategy, Addition Counting DifficultiesAbstract
One of the models in mathematics in learning activities in elementary schools is the approach with realistic mathematics education or known as PMR. The purpose of this research is to see how the implementation of the PMR learning model in overcoming difficulties in addition counting in grade 1 elementary school students. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data analysis used in this research is observation, interview and documentation study. The subjects of this research were teachers and students of grade 1 SDN Durian, Janapria sub-district. The results of the research are that in learning mathematics, the teacher diagnoses the difficulty of counting the addition of students and looks for the causes of the difficulty of counting the addition of these students, then determines the strategy that the teacher will do in overcoming counting difficulties. In overcoming students' addition counting difficulties, teachers use PMR strategies through the use of concrete objects such as marbles, stones, sticks, money, pencils and so on. The strategy carried out by the teacher also often invites students to learn outside using objects that are easy to find for addition. So that the strategy used by teachers in managing students' initial counting difficulties is by applying the Realistic Mathematics Approach or PMR model.
