Abstract

Effective interpersonal communication is a must-have in instilling regulatory values in a dormitory environment, especially in pesantren that have a distinctive culture and strict rules. This study aims to analyze the interpersonal communication patterns between administrators and santri in an effort to instill regulatory values in the Women's Dormitory of Riyadlushorfi Walmantiq Parigi Islamic Boarding School. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, and direct observation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that elements of openness, empathy, support, positive feelings, and equality can help the effectiveness of interpersonal communication between administrators and students. The delivery of communication methods can be done using informative, persuasive, and coercive strategies. The supporting factors are the existence of interactive communication, knowing the background of students, and coordination with various parties. The obstacles are students who cannot survive in the pesantren environment, students who do not care about pesantren regulations and differences between the perceptions of boarding administrators and students.
