Abstract

The listening ability is one of the key aspects in early childhood language development. However, observations at KOBER Al Ikhlas Sidamulih Pangandaran indicated that children in group A still experienced difficulties, such as being unable to repeat information, answer teacher questions, or retell stories in sequence. To overcome these challenges, educators applied audio-visual media as a learning strategy.  This study aims to describe how audio-visual media are implemented, to measure children’s listening ability, and to analyze the impact of their use. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, interviews with teachers and the principal, and documentation of learning activities. The subjects were ten children in group A.  The findings show that audio-visual media, including educational videos, interactive songs, and moving images, were applied in a structured manner according to the learning themes. Children responded positively by showing better concentration, being able to answer questions more accurately, and retelling stories in simple sentences. The use of audio-visual media also stimulated interest, strengthened memory, and created a more enjoyable learning atmosphere.  Although there were obstacles such as limited facilities and occasional power outages, teachers managed them with alternative solutions. Based on these results, it can be concluded that audio-visual media play an effective role in improving the listening skills of early childhood learners through concrete, interesting, and interactive learning experiences.
