Abstract

The rapid penetration of digital technology demands a crucial role for parents as controllers of gadget use by young children to mitigate the risks of negative content and dependency. This descriptive qualitative research aims to describe the strategies and roles of parents in technology guidance at home, using in-depth interviews with three key respondents at RA Al Huda Emplak. The findings indicate that mobile phones (HP) are the dominant device accessed by children for digital entertainment. Effective guidance strategies center on: 1) Setting strict time limits (averaging 1–2 hours per day); 2) Direct supervision in open spaces; and 3) Providing consistent education on wise use. The applied pattern adopts a negotiating and democratic approach, making technology access a privilege granted last, only after children have completed non-technological obligations (learning and physical activity). In conclusion, the role of parents as controllers through firm limits and balancing activities is the main key in digital parenting
