Authorship Criteria

J-STAF: Siddiq, Tabligh, Amanah, Fathonah (E-ISSN: 2828-318X), published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) Institut Nasional Nusantara Al Farabi, is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. To ensure proper recognition and accountability in our publications concerning Islamic Education Management, J-STAF adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

1. Definition of Authorship

Authorship in J-STAF is reserved for individuals who have made a significant intellectual contribution to the research. To be listed as an author, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:

  • Substantial Contributions: Made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the research; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data (applicable to both literary and fieldwork studies in madrasah, pesantren, or university contexts).

  • Drafting and Revising: Drafted the article or revised it critically for important intellectual content.

  • Final Approval: Provided final approval of the version to be published.

  • Accountability: Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

The order of authorship should be a joint decision of the co-authors and should reflect the relative scientific or professional contributions of the individuals involved, regardless of their academic status.

2. Contributorship and Acknowledgments

Individuals who participated in the development of a manuscript but do not meet all four criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors. Instead, their contributions should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section.

Examples of activities that do not alone qualify an individual for authorship include:

  • Acquisition of funding or general supervision of a research group.

  • General administrative support, technical editing, or language proofreading.

  • Routine data collection without involvement in data interpretation.

3. CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) Statement

To provide transparency regarding individual contributions, J-STAF requires authors to include a CRediT Author Statement in their manuscript. This allows authors to accurately describe their diverse contributions to the collaborative scholarly output.

Authors should assign relevant roles from the CRediT taxonomy (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, Supervision, Project Administration, and Funding Acquisition).

Example of a J-STAF CRediT Statement:

"[Author 1 Name]: Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft. [Author 2 Name]: Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Investigation. [Author 3 Name]: Writing – Review & Editing, Supervision."

4. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange author names after the manuscript has been submitted must be directed to the Editorial Office. The Corresponding Author must provide:

  • A clear, valid reason for the proposed change.

  • Written confirmation (via email or signed consent form) from all authors—including those being added or removed—indicating their full agreement to the change.

Changes in authorship will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and must be approved by the Editor-in-Chief. No changes to authorship are permitted after the article has been published.
