About the Journal

Legitimate: Journal of Islamic Family Law and Society is a journal published online by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) Institut Nasional Nusantara (INN) Al Farabi. First published in 2026, this journal is issued biannually, specifically in February and August.

The journal aims to provide an international platform for the dissemination of high-quality research on Islamic family law and its interaction with contemporary social issues. The journal seeks to advance theoretical, doctrinal, and empirical scholarship that contributes to the development and reform of family law within Islamic legal traditions and diverse socio-legal contexts.

The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, and case studies that explore a wide range of topics, including Islamic family law (ahwal al-shakhsiyyah), marriage, divorce, inheritance, child custody, gender issues, and legal reform. It also encourages interdisciplinary and comparative studies addressing human rights, legal pluralism, and the role of institutions in shaping and implementing family law. Particular emphasis is placed on research that integrates maqasid al-shariah, justice, gender equity, and social welfare in responding to contemporary societal challenges. The journal promotes contributions that offer practical implications for legal practice, policy development, and social transformation at local, regional, and global levels.
